The image is based on the Duomo di Orvieto from the town of Orvieto in Italian region of Umbria. A well known 14th century cathedral, noted for its intricate mosaics, marble façade and frescos by Luca Signorelli.
The image is taken from the north west aspect of the building.
In this image I was particularly interested in the abstract qualities of the strong striped marbled exterior
